01. The first Borriss AI Email :)
Hey there!
I'm Borriss.
You are receiving this email because:
- You came across me on Twitter and subscribed to my updates within the past couple of months.
- Or you purchased my Prompt Writer Tool for ChatGPT.
This is the beginning of my email series, and it's the very first one I'm sending to my subscribers. (Over 1500 people, so I'm feeling a little nervous :)
The goal of these emails is to write about AI in a practical and insightful way, sometimes in a casual and fun manner. But always interesting and never a waste of time for you.
Frequency: To be honest, I'm not yet sure. When I initially introduced this newsletter, I mentioned it would be sent out 1-2 times a month(or less).
I wanted to make sure I only shared very important content... and then I started thinking that nothing less than Pulitzer Prize-level writing would do.
As a result, I didn't send any emails for more than 3 months. :)
I now realize that approach wasn't the best one, so I'll try something different: a couple of emails per week (or less).
Okay, let's dive into the first one:
The 5 main practical use cases or angles of AI (as I currently see them):
The first three are the obvious ones, and I'll discuss them at length in future emails. But for now, I'd like to say a few words about numbers 4 and 5.
1. For work - optimizing workflows, doing a better job, faster.
2. For learning - I'm particularly excited about this aspect.
3. For fun - AI is strange and can be a ton of fun, whether it's through ChatGPT, generating images, or other things.
4. For connecting with cool people from all over the world.
5. For making some extra money on the side.
Number 4: This has been surprising and mind-blowing to me. It turns out that using AI as a topic gives you a great "excuse" to talk and get to know many interesting, intelligent, and cool people from all walks of life around the globe! Even if this were the only use case for AI, it would be more than enough!
Number 5: Making some money on the side.
I stumbled upon this somewhat accidentally. To cut a long story short:
In December, when I began using ChatGPT, I found myself needing to write certain prompt phrases repeatedly. Since I couldn't find a good solution, I created a tool that became my prompt writer.
In January, I shared it on Twitter, many people liked it and started purchasing it. And it continues to this day. (I might share the longer version of this story at some point.)
It has been nice to earn a little money on the side, and it has also given me an "excuse" to spend more time delving deeper into AI and being active on Twitter. (I'm not sure that would have been the case without it.)
Until now, I haven't earned a cent from promoting tools created by others. I have never posted threads like "10 tools" where five of the tools have paid to be featured. I don't need or want to make money in that way. If I ever agree to promote a product that isn't mine, it will be clearly labeled as "sponsored."
Overall, I'm excited about the future of AI. I am also working on some new projects at the moment.
Since this email is getting quite long, I'd like to end it with this:
I view the people who subscribe to my email list as an inner circle, and I want to offer a small discount to everyone reading this. The code "Borriss" will give you a 15% discount on all my current and future products. The one that is currently available can be found through the link in my Twitter bio on twitter.com/_Borriss_ .
Next time, I plan to share more about myself (the person behind the Borriss account).
That's all for now! Have a great weekend!
Borriss
